Purbeck is a cyclist’s paradise; there is a myriad of trails which take you through the area’s stunning countryside and coastline. Stunning views of Poole Harbour can be seen from the trails to Studland through the Rempstone Estate from the Steam Railway at Norden, near Corfe Castle where our hire centre is now based.
Admittedly, the general area is quite hilly which is why people flock to enjoy the fantastic views! However, there are plenty of flat trails if you know where to find them, which is what we have done for you! BUt if you want to tackle those hill to get the view from the top, try one of our Electric Bikes, new for 2017 (pre-booking advised).

If you arrive by train, you can catch a Taxi for the 3 miles trip to Norden Station. During 2017, we are expecting the Heritage Rail Service to operate between Wareham and Swanage. We can also deliver bikes from our hire centre at Norden to Wareham CycleWorks who operate a retail store from the station. From there you can explore Wareham Forest.
This area is a hidden gem and offers a truly car free day-out directly from our centre at Wareham Train Station. Most people follow the waymarked Sika Trail which passes close by The Silent Woman Pub near the end of the trail.
Situated only a few flat miles from Norden, our route takes you through the quiet lanes to Arne which is a marvellous natural heath with much local history and a wealth of rare habitats and birds. For 2016, the RSPB have just opened a new cafe. An abundance of Sika Deer live at Arne which made it their home many years ago after some of the deer reputedly left their home on Brownsea Island and swam across the harbour! The RSPB own the nature reserve and they would love you to leave your car at home and cycle into this tranquil haven which even boasts a small beach where you can soak up the sights and sounds of Poole Harbour.
Starting at our Norden Centre, we have routes which take you to Studland beach and the National Trust cafe or The famous Bankes Arms with its own micro brewery.The scenery is jaw dropping at times, especially the routes which give you views of Corfe Castle, Swanage and Poole Harbour. Try our adventurous ride which takes you to the famous Square & Compass pub in Langton Matravers and returns via Harman’s Cross before disembarking and returning via Brenscombe Hill with stunning views!
Most of our routes are based on the closest, flattest and most traffic-free trails around Wareham but there are an abundance of other areas to discover especially if you put your bikes on the train and use the local rail service from Wareham for the start or finish of your cycle adventure. For instance, you can cycle to Blue Pool, Kimmeridge, Lulworth, Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Lawrence of Arabia’s grave and Tolpuddle armed with only a bike, a map and a little energy and some adventurous ambition!

Many people already come to the Purbeck area on the train and rent a bike to get around or simply walk or use public transport. You can pick up a bike from our centre at Wareham Train Station and either cycle off into the Purbeck Countryside or get a local taxi firm to take you and your bikes to your accommodation before starting your cycling adventure.
